Water Tower

The water tower is part of the complex of the former Nitrogen Factory Ruše and was built for its needs in 1917. It has two reservoirs with a volume of 220 m3 and 130 m3. The height of the tower is 43 meters.

The water tower is registered with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia in the register of immovable cultural heritage.

Ruše is home to the once very successful and influential Nitrogen Factory. The first production, with two carbide furnaces, began on August 1, 1918. The goal was to process carbide into explosives. At its peak, the factory employed around 2,300 workers. Housing for the workers was built, leading to the development of Ruše, as many people moved to the town as a result.

The main transport in the Nitrogen Factory Ruše was railway transport. The locomotive Mica transported coal to the factory via a single-track railway. Today, it has been restored and placed as a 'monument' at the main railway station in Ruše.
