"Ruše is a place with an interesting cultural past, where thousands of visitors met on pilgrimages, where so many famous people studied two and three hundred years ago; however, they remained poor (with the exception of the church) in terms of sacred and secular art. The fact that there was so little of this external shine in Ruše may have been to blame for the strictly oriented attitude towards life and the conception of culture...". (Mirko Vovšek, Ruška kronika, in 1985)
It was Mirko Vovšek who embarked on a pioneering path and led many unknown and renowned artists, painters, graphic artists, and sculptors along with him, to Ruše, where they built a new world, renovated, and expanded it, bringing new inspiration and appreciation for the expression of others to the local community.
Between 1976 and 1982, 27 sculptural sculptures were created in Ruše, which the artists placed in outdoor locations in Ruše and in the premises of the Ruški likovni krog - RULIK, today known as the Rulik Ruše Art Society.
The sculptures were created in four sculpture colonies and symposia, and with their "birth" and placement in the place, they also changed it. Sculptural works thus first speak through their creator, and over time, they convey their silent thoughts. Each sculpture has its own historical imprint and is a monument to the history of our nation.
In cooperation with LAS Drava, the Municipality of Ruše revitalized 6 sculptures and arranged a learning path. We want to present this beautiful but forgotten cultural heritage to the people of Ruše and other visitors. We want the sculptures to be seen, communicated and recognized again.
You are invited to take a walk along the learning trail around the newer cultural monuments in Ruše.
