Vernik

100 years of tradition

A rich, more than 100-year-old tradition with a range of homemade dishes.

Among them are specialties such as stuffed homemade rabbit, venison steak in a hunter's sauce with cranberries, black radish with pumpkin oil, house-made liver pâté, and many other seasonal dishes made from local ingredients.

Inside the inn are two rooms, separated by a movable wall, for 20, or for 30 persons. Combined, they are suitable for groups of up to 50 people.
In the summer garden - in the cool shade of the mighty walnut trees - there is still room for 70 people.

With you since 1967

In 1967, Ivanka Vernik opened the inn and, with the help of a cookbook, family, and friends, laid the foundation for a modern restaurant.

GOLDEN CHEF INTERNATIONAL AWARD

International Golden Chef Award
Owner Ivanka Šauperl, a renowned hospitality worker, was visibly surprised, and happy at yesterday’s announcement of the Italian jury's results at the Orel Hotel in Maribor. The explanation states that the jury was impressed by the originality, the well-prepared table setting, the equipment, the service, and the detailed explanation of the dishes. "I offered our specialty, a stuffed rabbit in a sauce with stewed apples and plums, accompanied by dumplings. I found the recipe in an old cookbook. I served it with a yellow Muscat from winemaker Ivan Dopler from Zgornja Počehova, and the jury was thrilled with the choice. We have been preparing stuffed rabbit at our inn for four years, and our guests find it extremely enjoyable," she said.

Vernik's orchestra

A more than 100-year-old music box - lajna - also testifies to the long-standing tradition of hospitality.

The Atlantic Orchester violin was brought to the house from London at the end of the 19th century. There are said to be only three musical chests of this type in Slovenia.

By prior arrangement, you will be able to hear the melodies of this archived object in a special room.

FOT THE KIDS

We also take care of the well-being of our youngest guests, who can be placed in child seats, there is a green area with children's playgrounds around the inn, and we have arranged a baby changing room for mothers with babies. Of course, we have also adapted our regular range of children's menus, especially for the youngest.

FOR THE DISABLED

Gostilna Vernik is a disabled-friendly inn - easy wheelchair access both inside the inn and to the summer garden. We also have toilets specially arranged for the disabled.

FOR CYCLIYTS

During the summer months, many cyclists stop in the shady garden of the Vernik Inn. For refreshment and short regeneration, our garden is more than the right solution. The famous Drava cycling route passes by our inn.
